Hi there! Looking for a Justice of the Peace?

I’m Caitlin Buckley (she/her), and I’d love to officiate your wedding, whether you’re planning a simple backyard ceremony or an elaborate occasion.

I’m happy to offer guidance on the form of the ceremony, provide a script for a brief exchange of vows, or simply follow your lead.

Congratulations on your engagement!

Solemnizing your marriage

This is all you need to make it legal! I will preside over your vows and file the necessary paperwork after the ceremony. This fee is set by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and it’s $100 for marriages in Wellesley (where I’m based), and $150 for weddings elsewhere in Massachusetts.

Instant elopement

My parents didn’t have any family at their wedding—just a local JP with the “Wedding March” on vinyl. Almost 50 years later, I don’t have a record player, but for $250 I will show up with flowers, a cake, and the power vested in me by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. All you need is love!

Consulting on the ceremony

If you’re planning a longer ceremony and would like help with structuring the vows, readings, etc.; would like to consult with me more extensively before the ceremony; or would like me to attend your rehearsal, please contact me for an additional fee schedule.

About Caitlin

Hi! I’m Caitlin (she/her). Forty-five years ago, my parents were married by a Justice of the Peace in Amherst, Massachusetts, and in 2012 I was married by a friend with a one-day designation in the same town. I have a lifelong respect for the tradition of non-denominational wedding ceremonies, and as a newly appointed Justice of the Peace, I would be grateful for the opportunity to solemnize your marriage.

I live in Wellesley and will be happy to officiate your wedding anywhere in the Commonwealth if I’m available. You’ll find me diligent, professional, friendly, and well spoken. In my spare time, I enjoy crafting, writing, mushroom hunting, volunteering with the Girl Scouts, and spending time with my family.

Also, a quick note to say that, in Massachusetts, Justices of the Peace are required not to discriminate based on any protected status. It’s not just the law, however—I am so proud to live in Massachusetts, the first state to legalize same-sex marriage. Please know that, if you identify as a part of the LGBTQIA+ community, I will be honored to be part of your special day and will support and affirm you as a couple however I can.
